Chapter four

In these chapters, Rob re visits his ex girlfriends and he's looking for answers for what he is doing wrong in relationships. When he goes to see them it's really depressing because he never gets what he's looking for. They basically tell him to leave and they never tell him what he's doing wrong. It's pathetic what he's doing. Going back to re visit his old girlfriends and asking really awkward questions is so sad. They end up feeling sorry for him too so they try to level with him, and it makes Rob feel every worse. With Charlie she's different and tells him that he wasn't confident enough. He would blame himself....but then he wants to be able to blame someone or something else for all of his struggles. He's a sad guy that's spending his life trying to find out why he's looking for the reason that he's looking for all of these problems.

Chapters 7-13 RAAAAAGHHHHH!

These chapters were incredibly annoying for me. Rob keeps messing up his life with everyone and it drives me crazy. The way he just keeps himself in the past and absorbs himself with music is so frustrating. He cheats on Rosie and he only realizes he loves Laura when she doesn't like him. He uses the past to decide on what to do in the future but because of this he just makes the same old mistakes OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN. He never learns. He finally meets a girl who is really nice and they're about to get all promiscuous and whatnot but....he gets mad about how sex isn't nice or something stupid and ruins it. I love this book because of how annoying it is. It's really insightful into relationships, sort of a 'how not to' guide into relationships. The way people interact is believable in this book also. Mainly the girls. Normaly in a book it's the main character that gets screwed with by the other characters but in this book, the main character does this all to himself and analyzes it as his life is going. I hope he can realize that he needs to stop looking into the past to solve all his problems but as of right now, it doesn't sound promising.

CHAPTERS 1-6

Rob seems to have the wrong point of view with relationships. He always thinks about himself and has a very low self esteem. Instead of trying to fix relationships he just watches them fall apart and thinks about what other guys do in these situations. His top 10 lists are very obsessive and I don't really think they are heatlhy. When you rank the the things in your life you over think things instead of actually fixing what you are thinking about. Music is his way out in life, they fuel his thoughts but make him depressed. He sounds like the type of person who would rather listen to an upsetting song instead of talking to the girl who made him upset. However, I really like him. I'm glad i'm not him because then nothing would get done ever but his insight into life is pretty cool. I like how he can analyze everything and gets some deep thoughts. For his sake, I hope he gets his life straightened out and gets over Laura or all this thinking is for nothing.

Philosophy on reading

The type of books I read, are the type that talk about the way the world works, the human mind, technology, and other different sciences. My favorite author, Michael Crichton, combines his vast knowledge of many different areas in science, with a gripping plot line. Say that nano technology gets out of hand, and now the technology has gone rogue and is acting to destroy everything in it’s path. Or if there is a new way to travel through time, and the travelers end up in the middle ages. The thing I love about his books is that he really explains how the science of what is happening, and although his stories are far fetched, they could potentially happen if the technology was tapped into enough. I am also currently reading a book called ‘The Human Touch’. It is about how the way we look at the world defines what it is. It is a really, really cool book and it is a tough read. I’ve read the first four chapters three times each. Each time I read the chapter I find a new theory I’ve missed out on, or even just a simple idea I didn’t notice. I love reading books where something awful happens, and the struggle the people go through. I read “1984” a few years ago and it was a fantastic view of what could happen to the world if people had too much power. I really like thinking, I think way too much about how the world works, why we are the way we are, and also about new principles of physics that show how the universe is run. Any book that challenges conventional wisdom, or speaks about the human mind, or the way the world works will interest me. I do have a few books that not many people will read, such as about the apocalypse or about hit men. I really like reading, and going into deep discussions about them. I look forward to reading the books for this class and, not to sound like too much of a suck up, the discussions we will have with them!
